This connection utilizes a one-inch thick A572 Grade 50 steel plate welded to a wide flange column as specified per plan. The beam is connected to the shear tab using a maximum of three 3/4-inch diameter A325 bolts with a minimum 8-inch spacing. The shear tab is welded to the column web with a 3/8-inch fillet weld applied typically, and a 5/16-inch fillet weld applied to three sides of the plate. The shear tab has a minimum length of 1 foot 8 inches, with a maximum edge distance of 2 1/2 inches for the bolt group.
