A concrete slab over metal deck bears parallel to a wide flange beam, utilizing welded shear studs for composite action. Shear studs are spaced at a maximum of twenty-four inches on center typically, with a four-and-one-half-inch minimum spacing. Additional studs are provided at ends to meet the number required in brackets. The top of the beam maintains a one-and-one-half-inch clearance typically unless noted otherwise.
