A wide flange beam features top and bottom flange plates of thickness T and width W, shimmed as required. Where grating is present, a 12-gauge cover plate is field-welded to the grating and bolted through the flange assembly. The grating is notched as required to accommodate the connection. Grating support plates are welded to the beam flange on the near side and far side with a minimum bearing of 1 1/2 inches. The assembly utilizes four bolts on a common gauge, with N rows of bolts specified and three rows shown for reference.
