This assembly manages movement at a roof expansion joint by utilizing an 18-gauge continuous bent plate spanning between steel joist top chords. The metal roof deck is fastened through both the deck and the bent plate on both joist chords, with deck fasteners sized per the schedule. A minimum of 2 inches of bearing is provided at the steel beam support. The joist supplier provides plugs between the top chord angles to transfer shear forces in directions perpendicular and parallel to the joist, as specified in the deck shear schedule. Additional joists are installed per the plans at the expansion joint location.
