A glued laminated timber beam bears directly onto a column notch with a two-and-a-half-inch typical dimension. A three-eighths-inch plate with three five-eighths-inch by seven-inch smooth A304 stainless steel pins is centered in the column with typical countersinking and plugging. A one-quarter-inch gap is provided typically on each side.
