A hollow structural section column connects to a wide-flange intermediate beam using a Type 6 base plate assembly detailed per typical drawings. The lower hollow structural section receives a 3/8-inch by 6-inch by 6-inch plate on each side, secured with two 3/4-inch diameter A325 through-bolts and vertical laminated strand lumber blocking inside the hollow structural section. Three-sixteenths inch fillet welds attach the assembly with specified edge distances and spacing dimensions of 1 inch and 2-1/2 inches.
