Two-inch by two-inch by one-quarter-inch steel angles attached to both sides of the joist web members reinforce the existing open web steel joist for new point loads. These reinforcing angles extend to the nearest panel point on the opposite chord. Three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds, two inches long, secure the angles. The reinforcement maintains a minimum clearance of six inches from the point load location, with specific offsets indicated for web member intersections.
