Wide flange and hollow structural section beam connections feature three-eighths-inch and five-sixteenths-inch shear plates on both sides with erection bolts. A full-height stiffener plate centered on the hollow structural section is welded with five-sixteenth-inch welds on three sides typical. Additional quarter-inch fillet welds secure the beam framing conditions per plan. A maximum one-half-inch clearance is maintained at the beam top flange condition.
