A twenty-four-inch thick concrete mat slab intersects a two-foot-thick concrete shear wall at an elevator pit. The mat slab incorporates number six grade eighty reinforcing bars at eighteen inches on center each way top and bottom, alongside number five reinforcing bars at twelve inches on center each way with standard hooks at the slab edge. Vertical wall reinforcement continues through the mat slab with T-one heads, supplemented by boundary element stirrups extending to the bottom of the mat and number five U-bars at six inches on center at each boundary element. The configuration provides robust load transfer and crack control for heavy shear loads at the elevator pit foundation.
