A hollow structural section post connects to a concrete foundation using a 1/2-inch by 3-inch by 0-foot-9-inch base plate welded with a 3/16-inch fillet weld. Two 3/4-inch diameter ASTM A307 bolts spaced at 6 inches on center anchor the assembly into the concrete. A 1 1/2-inch layer of non-shrink grout is applied beneath the base plate. Reinforcing includes number 3 hairpin bars placed around the anchor bolts with 1 inch of concrete clearance.
