A concrete housekeeping pad sits above the main slab on grade with a maximum height of 8 inches, coordinated for location and extents with mechanical equipment. The pad is reinforced with number four bars at 12 inches on center each way, featuring a typical lap splice. The perimeter of the pad uses number four bars at 16 inches on center tied into the supporting slab. Contractors may optionally drill and epoxy dowels with a 4-inch embedment in lieu of cast-in-place dowels over the under-slab preparation.
