A structural steel davit socket pedestal is centered on a column with a 7/8-inch thick cap plate welded to the top of the column. A 1/2-inch by 10-inch stiffener plate is provided on each side, omitted where a shear tab occurs. Beams frame into the column flanges with shear tab connections. A 1/2-inch fillet weld secures the pedestal assembly.
