This assembly utilizes a one-inch thick ASTM A572 Grade 50 steel plate passing through a hollow structural section column to support a beam sized per plan. The plate is welded to the column with a 5/16-inch fillet weld on three sides. The erector has the option to provide a maximum of three 3/4-inch diameter A325 bolts with a minimum 8-inch spacing for the connection. The plate extends a minimum of 1 foot 8 inches from the column face, with a maximum 2 1/2-inch clearance from the beam edges. A 3/8-inch fillet weld is specified as typical for the connection.
