A wood beam sized per plan bears onto a vertical wood post. A Simpson ECC connector bracket ties the beam and post together using machine bolts with four-inch and one-and-a-half-inch spacings. An L 3x3x1/4-inch steel angle knee brace spans diagonally between the post and the underside of the beam, secured with three five-eighths-inch diameter machine bolts at each end.
