An HSS4x4x5/16 hollow structural section tube connects to a structural steel beam at Level 2 using a one-half-inch by 12-inch by 12-inch base plate secured with four 7/8-inch diameter high-strength bolts. Horizontal HSS4x4x5/16 tubes tie into the vertical member at the top and mid-height with quarter-inch fillet welds and block outs provided for welding. The vertical tube features a cover plate welded with quarter-inch welds typically at the top and mid-height locations.
