A buckling-restrained braced frame connection occurs at a steel column where the column web runs parallel to the framing. A gusset plate, sized per the buckling-restrained brace manufacturer, is welded to the column web with complete joint penetration welds. A backing plate measuring 3/8" x 4" x 1'-4" is secured with two 3/4" diameter erection bolts. Beams frame into the column utilizing a 10" channel section, measuring 25 lbs/ft by 1'-0" long, fastened with two 3/4" diameter erection bolts and 3/4" thick stiffener plates in two locations. The column cap plate is 1 1/4" thick, and a metal deck bears across the top of the assembly per plan.
