Typical beam-to-column connections are provided for both the web and the flange of a wide-flange column. The beam connects to the column web using a shear plate welded with a five-sixteenths inch typical fillet weld, with shear plate size, welds, and fasteners sized per the typical beam connection schedule. For the flange connection, a one-half inch thick plate is welded to both column flanges with five-sixteenths inch fillet welds at the top and bottom. Edge distances and fastener spacings are indicated as one and one-half inches typical, increasing to two inches for W24 beams and above. Additional notes direct the user to framing plans for steel beam sizes and reference specific details for drag beams.
