A concrete slab-on-grade rests on a minimum six-inch aggregate base over a minimum twelve-inch layer of non-expansive soils or structural fill per the geotechnical report. A vapor retarder is installed directly beneath the concrete slab. Grade 60 reinforcing steel is placed at mid-depth, consisting of number five bars at twelve inches on center each way, with an alternate spacing of number five bars at sixteen inches on center each way. Reinforcing must be properly secured to remain at mid-depth during slab placement, and the slab installation must follow the completion of underground utilities.
