A structural steel channel connects adjacent to a roof deck opening using an L8x4x1/2 angle welded to the top flange and channel web. A five-sixteenths inch fillet weld secures the angle to the top flange, while a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld connects the channel web to the angle. The deck opening maintains a zero-inch minimum to three-inch maximum typical clearance. A one-inch maximum dimension governs the offset at the support beam.
