Detail B features a beam-to-beam connection utilizing a shear plate with three vertical bolts on each side of the web, with typical complete penetration welds specified for the top and bottom flanges. Detail A contains a sloped moment frame joint with complete penetration welds at the flange connections. A general note mandates that the cantilever beam shall match the size of the back span beam unless noted otherwise. Shear plates, welds, and fasteners are sized per the typical beam connection schedule.
