A circular penetration is cut through the web of a wide flange beam supporting a concrete slab over metal deck. Two additional shear studs per foot are provided over the length of the opening. Edge distances, clearances, and reinforcement spacings are dimensioned relative to the penetration diameter "d", support locations, and reference schedules. A bolted connection joins the wide flange beam to the supporting member per plan.
