An offset structural steel beam connects to a supporting WT shape using a shear tab welded to the web. The supporting member consists of a WT5x22.5 or WT7x26.5 cut to fit as detailed on plan, welded with a quarter-inch fillet weld on two sides typical. The supported beam uses a shear tab connection sized per schedule with unslotted holes. Fillet welds of quarter-inch size are applied on three sides at the connection interface. Similar conditions apply at built-up beams where they occur, with provisions for carried beams at higher and lower elevations.
