About this detail

A structural steel framing assembly connects a diagonal kicker and edge outrigger to a supporting steel beam and concrete over metal floor deck. The concrete slab edge features a bent plate with a half-inch diameter by length plus twenty-four inch deformed bar anchor at twenty-four inches on center with one-inch cover. A three-eighths by four by fifteen-inch plate is secured with two five-eighths-inch diameter by five-inch embed wedge anchors, adjusted so the bolts locate at the bottom of the steel deck. A three-inch by three-inch by quarter-inch diagonal kicker braces the overhang, with an optional alternative to change the kicker to a three-inch by three-inch by three-eighths-inch angle and connect to the nearest beam maintaining slope limits. A two-inch by two-inch by three-sixteenths-inch edge angle supports the outrigger at each beam and at four feet on center maximum. Fillet welds of three-sixteenths-inch size secure the connection plates and diagonal brace members, with an allowance for the contractor to provide a connection using two seven-eighths-inch diameter A325 bolts instead of field welds where noted.
