A vertical hanger rod passes through a one-inch diameter hole in the stair landing and secures to a half-inch by four-inch by four-inch plate with a one-inch diameter hole. This plate bears against a half-inch by four-inch plate welded inside the hollow structural stair stringer with quarter-inch fillet welds. The stair stringer connection requires quarter-inch fillet welds restricted to the outside corner only. Clearances to the stair stringer are dimensioned as two inches and require verification with the architectural drawings.
