A hollow structural section carried beam connects to a wide flange column using structural angles sized as L4x4x1/2. The top and bottom seat angles are welded with five-sixteenth inch and one-quarter inch fillet welds on three sides or both sides. A maximum one-half inch clearance is maintained between the beam and support. A column cap plate is detailed similarly to standard cap plate connections.
