Open web steel joists bear on L5x5x3/8 seat angles welded to the steel column flanges, featuring a one-quarter-inch thick vertical stiffener plate beneath each angle. A one-half-inch thick cap plate is welded across the top of the steel column flange, positioned below the steel deck. The joist ends are secured to the seat angles with two one-half-inch diameter erection bolts. A stabilizer plate is connected lower on the column web to brace the assembly. Fillet welds of one-eighth-inch and one-quarter-inch sizes are indicated throughout the connection.
