A diagonal brace connects to the web of a supporting steel beam beneath a metal deck using a one-quarter inch gusset plate. Three-sixteenths inch fillet welds secure the connection between the plate, brace, and beam web. A three-quarters inch diameter A307 bolt fastens the brace with specified clearances of one-half inch to surrounding elements. The metal deck spans continuously over the top flange of the steel beam. A reference callout directs attention to sheet S5.03 detail 6 for the connection to the deck.
