A four-inch thick concrete topping slab bears over a geofoam fill layer, bounded by a vertical concrete edge reinforced with number four bars at sixteen inches on center. The perimeter vertical bars hook into the topping slab and extend down into the slab on grade with drilled and epoxied dowels featuring a three and a half inch effective embedment. The four-inch thick topping slab contains number four reinforcing bars at sixteen inches on center each way placed at mid-depth. A concrete slab on grade sits adjacent to the geofoam pad assembly.
