A steel beam frames into a hollow structural section column with top and bottom moment plates welded to the column face and beam flanges. A single plate shear connector with three bolt holes is welded to the column web and bolted to the beam web. Section A details the top plate measuring six inches by six inches with a half-inch thickness welded with quarter-inch fillet welds top and bottom. Section B details the bottom plate welded with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. Five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds connect the top and bottom plates to the hollow structural section column, and a general note indicates the slab on metal deck is omitted for clarity.
