Concrete slab-on-grade construction joints and contraction joints bear on a compacted subgrade. The assembly includes a concrete slab of a thickness designated as T, placed over a twelve-inch layer of ninety-five percent compacted subgrade resting on material specified in the soils report. A fifteen-mil vapor barrier wrap is installed beneath the concrete slab. Horizontal dowels are positioned at the center of the slab for the construction joint with one-eighth-inch tooled edges. Sawcut contraction joints feature a depth of one-quarter of the slab thickness with a minimum dimension of one and one-quarter inches.
