When a concentrated load equal to or greater than 100 pounds occurs 4 inches or more from a panel point on either the top or bottom chord, two L2x2x3/16 angle struts shall be field welded to the joist using 3/16 fillet welds typical. These struts must be installed prior to applying the load, extending from the point of load application to the opposite panel point. The struts are furnished and installed by the trade responsible for applying the concentrated load, coordinated by the general contractor.
