An intersecting steel beam connects to a supporting beam using a WT section per plan with a three-eighths-inch shear plate shaped to fit around the flange. For conditions where the intersecting beam depth is greater than ten inches, full-height three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are installed on both sides with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. For conditions where the beam depth is less than ten inches, similar stiffening and three-eighths-inch shear plates with specified bolts and welds are applied.
