Steel beams frame into the sides of a vertical steel column topped with a steel cap plate. Stiffener plates are welded to the column web aligned with the beam flanges. A structural steel deck spans across the top of the assembly above the beams and column cap plate. Rivets or bolts fasten the beam webs to vertical connection plates flanking the column.
