A concrete slab on grade features a thickened edge footing resting upon under slab preparation and compacted subgrade. The edge of the slab incorporates continuous reinforcing steel with a minimum depth of one foot six inches below the finished grade. The perimeter thickened section measures one foot six inches wide at the bottom bearing surface.
