An HSS beam connects to upper and lower HSS columns using L5x3x3/8 angles measuring zero feet seven inches long on each side. Each angle secures with two three-quarter-inch diameter A325N bolts in standard holes. The lower connection features vertical long slotted holes in the HSS column to accommodate movement, while the upper connection uses standard holes. Fillet welds of one-quarter inch size are applied typically as shown. A half-inch gap is maintained between structural elements.
