A W5x22.5 filler beam is cut to fit over a structural steel girder with a five-inch vertical clearance, supporting a concrete slab over a metal deck above. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are installed at eight-foot on center maximum on each side of the WT shape. One-half-inch stiffener plates are provided at eight-foot on center and where supported beams occur along the girder web. Shear studs are spaced as specified on the structural plans. Welds include five-sixteenth-inch and one-quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides typically.
