A removable steel grating panel is supported by structural steel framing such as a channel or wide-flange shape, with a one-quarter-inch toe plate welded to the railing. A two-and-a-half by two-and-a-half by one-quarter-inch angle is welded to the bearing bars at guardrail locations, held six inches from each side of the removable panel. Banding bars are provided on each side of the opening all around with a half-inch clearance. Lindapter grate fast clips are installed at the four corners of the removable panel. Cross bars are removed at the location of the clamp as required, and a nyloc nut is fitted at the end of the fastener to prevent full fastener removal.
