A wide flange beam connects to the web of a wide flange column using a typical shear plate connection sized per plan. Three-eighths-inch thick top and bottom stiffener plates weld to the column web and flanges with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds, featuring cropped corners up to one inch maximum to clear the column k-distance. An identical beam connection mirrors on the opposite side of the column web with cropped corners.
