A reinforced concrete slab on grade bears on a continuous concrete stem wall and footing. The stem wall is six inches thick with number four reinforcing bars spaced at thirty-two inches on center with hooked ends. The footing measures one foot six inches wide by one foot zero inches deep, reinforced with three continuous number four bars and number four horizontal and vertical bars at twelve inches on center with alternate hooks. A three-inch clear cover is provided typically at the bottom and sides of the footing. The slab rests on an under-slab preparation layer placed over undisturbed soil, with finish grade located below the top of the stem wall.
