A pipe penetrates a concrete foundation wall through a sleeve with a one-inch clearance all around. One number five bar by twenty-four inches long is placed above and below the sleeve in foundation walls and grade beams. A separate note specifies that no pipe is allowed to pass through footings or grade beams. Where a pipe is located less than twenty-four inches below the bottom of the footing, the footing must be thickened and extended a minimum of one foot on each side of the sleeve.
