A hollow structural section post measuring 4 inches by 4 inches by one-quarter inch is centered on a channel section five. The post is welded to a three-eighths-inch thick by 5-inch wide by 10-inch long plate using a three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld. This connection plate is bolted to the channel web with two seven-eighths-inch diameter high-strength bolts.
