A top braced frame connection at an HSS column. A hollow structural section column is capped with a one-quarter-inch thick cap plate attached with a one-eighth-inch perimeter fillet weld. A structural steel beam connects to the column using a three-eighth-inch connection plate with standard holes sized per standard details. A diagonal brace frames into the column and beam intersection with a gusset plate welded with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld. Centerlines for the beam, column, and brace intersect at a common work point with a four-inch offset dimension.
