A steel joist with 5-inch cantilevered bearing ends rests on a steel beam equipped with full-depth stiffeners at joist bearing locations. A continuous C12x30 channel supports the steel stud bracing, while a continuous HSS5x5x1/2 member and continuous 1/4-inch bent plate tie into the gravity connection. A one-inch plus or minus gap is provided at the parapet wall to accommodate vertical deflections and seismic drifts, featuring a 1/4-inch fillet weld to the joist end and joist top chord. An alternate condition between joists incorporates an HSS5x5x3/8 blocking member and a drift track connection designed by the supplier.
