A concrete slab on grade construction joint between a first pour and a second pour rests over a prepared subbase. Continuous reinforcement extends across the joint with a 32-inch lap splice, maintaining structural diaphragm integrity without through-cutting or trench sawing the fresh side of the joint. The concrete interface requires intentional roughening to 1/4 inch after cleaning away all laitance, and a saw cut mirrors a crack control joint on the fresh side. Two inches of concrete clearance is provided typically, and the contractor must submit a slab on grade pour plan for the engineer's review prior to execution with a maximum pour dimension of 200 feet and a 2-to-1 maximum aspect ratio.
