An HSS4x2 1/2x1/4 hollow structural section frames the masonry wall opening and connects to an L3 1/2x2 1/2x1/4 angle section measuring zero feet four inches long at four feet on center. The steel assembly attaches to the masonry wall using one-half-inch-diameter Simpson Titen HD screws with four-inch minimum embedment. Embedded plates sized per schedule are provided on each side with quarter-inch fillet welds. This detail applies to all three exposed sides of the wall opening.
