Cold-formed steel stud framing utilizes continuous bridging passing through stud punchouts and secured with clip angles at each stud bridging leg. Clip angles measure 1-1/2 inches by 1-1/2 inches by 16 gauge and are fastened with four number 10 screws in lieu of a weld, or welded with a 1/8-inch fillet weld maintaining a maximum 1/8-inch gap. Bridging splices feature a lap connection secured with two number 10 screws over a 4-inch splice length. Wall framing requires bridging for walls without sheathing or with sheathing on only one face, spaced at a maximum of 4 feet 0 inches on center typically. Additional rows of bridging are provided at intermediate horizontal stud bracing levels where required.
