A buckling-restrained brace connects to a gusset plate attached to a structural steel column and steel beam at the roof level. The working point is located at the center of the column and one-half of the nominal beam depth from the top. Column stiffener plates and beam stiffener plates are provided on the near side and far side as required by the engineer of record or manufacturer. The brace connects to the gusset plate using specified bolt diameters and weld sizes. A metal roof deck bears across the top of the steel beams.
