Top and bottom continuity plates match the plate thickness of the larger flange of incoming beams. Wall face plates extend with a width equal to twice the flange width typically, with specific weld sizes of seven-eighths inch for half-inch thick wall plates and one and one-quarter inch for three-quarter inch thick wall plates, or complete joint penetration welds typically. Top and bottom plates attach to the composite plate shear wall with fillet welds or complete joint penetration welds. Top and bottom continuity plates align with the incoming beam flanges at the wall connection.
