An HSS post is supported on a 1-inch base plate welded above a structural steel column and wide-flange beam assembly. The wide-flange beam is sized per plan and connects to the column with welded flange and web connections, featuring 5/16-inch fillet welds typical at the web and 3/4-inch welds typical at the flange. A 1-inch minimum clearance is maintained alongside the HSS post, with 1 1/2-inch typical spacing. The concrete slab-on-metal deck is omitted for clarity, and top of steel varies per plan.
