A steel beam connection bears on a concrete element using structural angles and a system of embedded anchor bolts and dowel bars. The connection incorporates an L8x6x3/8 angle seat welded to the steel beam with three-eighths-inch fillet welds, anchored with four 1-1/2-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 36 anchor bolts spaced at 12 inches on center within a 5-foot-6-inch by 2-foot-6-inch blockout. A 1-inch thick A572-50 stiffener plate is welded to each side of the beam web with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. Additional shear studs and deformed bar anchors are welded to the connection angles, embedded alongside reinforcing bar groups including #4 ties at 1-1/2 inches on center, #6 top reinforcing bars, and #7 bottom reinforcing bars. The assembly is finished with a 1-1/2-inch layer of non-shrink grout beneath the base plate.
